Capital One - 2 Years Later

Progress is at a snail's pace on the Capital One card. Fortunately, I opted out of a change in terms a few years ago when they tried to increase my rate. So this one is a fixed 4.99%. The good thing about opting out of those changes in terms is that you can't add any more debt on it. So the only place it can go is down, no matter how slow the progress seems.

Two years ago, the balance was $1,129.26. Today it stands at $828.17.

In case you missed me

I'm still alive. Surviving. Making SLOW SLOW SNAIL-LIKE progress. But telling myself I'll be a better blogger in 2011.

If you neglect the tickers too long, they disappear. So I'll try to get them updated over the next couple of weeks.

only update for today...is the Capital One balance.

Started at: $1,129.26
Total paid: 186.21
Remaining balance : $ 943.05

Capital One Update - Aug. 2010

It seems hardly worth posting such tiny progress. But I'm trying to get my focus back. I even listened to the Dave Ramsey radio show yesterday afternoon looking for motivation to keep fighting the fight.

$10.81 paid. New balance = $986.97

Capital One Update - July '10

More snail-like progress. I made a slightly higher-than-minimum payment to make sure we'd cross down from the 4 digits. I only plan on paying the minimum for a while now, but the interest rate is a fixed 4.99%.

$15.89 paid. New balance = $997.78

And the great thing? We're out of the thousands!!!

Sorry Capital One, with a 4.99% fixed rate, you're not getting more than the minimum payment from me. I have bigger fish to fry.

Capital One Update - Dec. '09

More slow and steady progress on this small balance. I'm just so not inclined to pay extra on this one since it has that fixed 4.99% rate. $11.55 paid. New balance = $1,083.66.

Capital One Card October Update

The snail is definitely the appropriate icon for this ticker. I'm only making the minimum payment since this card has a fixed 4.99% rate. A whopping $11.60 was applied to the balance this month, leaving the amount due of $1,106.56. I'm sure you'll be seeing this snail for a long, long time!

The Capital One Pet

Dave Ramsey has a quote about credit cards that hang around so long you think they're a pet! That is certainly where this one falls. I think we've owed on this longer than our youngest child has been alive...maybe even longer than our oldest child!!!

This is another one though that is not too high on my radar screen. The interest is fixed 4.99% because I opted out of a change in terms a couple of years ago. So once the card is paid off according to the original terms the account will be closed. The minimum payment is almost nothing, so I'm only paying about $11 towards the balance each month.

Thirty days ago, the balance was $1,129.26. The most recent statement showed a balance of $1,118.16. I calculated that at this rate, we'll have this paid off in 8 years. *sigh*
